John Nelson Little, age 68, of Mt. Sterling, Illinois passed away at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 24, 2024 at the Mt. Sterling Health and Rehab Center.
He was born July 4, 1955 in Quincy, Illinois the son of James Alfred and Eva Gladys Greenleaf Little. He married Sonja Rajean “Cookie” Cookson on May 16, 1988 in Bradford County, Florida and she survives.
Mr. Little worked for the State of Illinois Department of Transportation for 28 years before retiring.
John graduated from Rushville High School with the class of 1973.
He was a Harley Davidson enthusiast and enjoyed riding and maintaining his own motorcycle. John belonged to a van club, enjoyed partying at Hogback Island and taking care of his cats. He was a generous soul who opened his heart and home to others and also loved to host holiday gatherings, but his greatest joy was time spent with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife Sonja “Cookie” Little of Mt. Sterling, Illinois. Two daughters Sara Collins (Rick) of Mt. Sterling, Illinois and Candi Erwin of Fowler, Illinois. Five grandchildren Tyler, Miranda and Riley Collins and Bailey and Andrew Erwin. One brother Jay E. Little (Teresa) of Frederick, Illinois. One sister Judy Dupoy (Charles) of Rushville, Illinois also survives along with several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 brother James Wayne Little.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, March 28, 2024 in the Hendricker Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling with Pastor Bill Rucker officiating.
Burial will follow in the Mt. Sterling City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the Brown County Animal Rescue.
